That’s a true fact ladies and gentleman, no one is explaining what you actually do at wealthy affiliate.
So let me try.
First off you discover a lot about yourself, your hidden talents and your own failures.
You discover how you handle large amounts of information and what kind of person you really are, lots of people want to believe they are hard working, in reality most when given a task to perform would shy away and make a excuse way they don’t have the time right now to get it done.
At wealthy affiliate you are given tasks to complete, starting with your 8 week action plan, and moving on to more in-depth assignments in the learning center.
Learning is a bad word to use, no one likes to learn, it associated with hard work, and as I have already side no one likes work, let alone hard work.
So what wealthy affiliate teaches you to do is work smart not hard. That is what you actually do at the WAU you work smart, and earn income from affiliate marketing.
Recently someone asked a question in the forum:
Newbies – some questions -understanding basics?
Hi All,
after the 1st week in WA, it seems as though alot of reading and
research is needed….especially for a couple of begginers…..
we do have one query, that would be great to get some feedback on:
On joining WA we have seen that there are numerous ways to perform
Internet Marketing,
however, we had the idea in our heads (before joining) that it is all
about setting up a website and promoting a product (not our own
product) through that…..
eg: someone looking for book, comes across our website, clicks links
to Amazon, buys book tru Amazon, we get commission……
is it as simple as that??
we realise there would be alot of work put into developing a site,
getting a domain, hosting etc…..
but do we have the basics correct??
we do believe we have an idea for a website, but are unsure about
jumping straight in (if above concept is correct) or bide our time and
learn all we can from WA?? start out with other forms of marketing -
article marketing etc….?? and of course continuing the 8week
plan….
any feedback, ideas, advice, guidance would be much appreciated.
My answer in a nutshell was:
Well you have the basic concept right,
But I would take a few steps back first off. Don’t take to much on to start with, you will just end up running around in circles.
Take a look at some niches and do research on one you fancy. Once you are happy with that look for a product you feel you can get behind and promote it.
Forget the web site for now, just get your self’s a domain name and point it at the products sales page, not forgetting to include your Affiliate link of cause.
Then start writing articles and submit them to ezine articles, use that one because they will teach you how to write good quality articles. Once you master article writing that gets you the click (Lots of free traffic) to your merchants sales page then you can think about looking to build a web site.
What I have explained above is a short version of bum marketing using direct linking.
It costs little to do but teaches you a lot on cracking that article writing that gets you traffic.
Most people think it’s just build a web site or Squidoo lens and stick a product on it with a big link and then go spend the money, unfortunately it’s not.
Learn one step at a time. One technique at a time and when you can put them all together then you can go and spend the money.
- 1. Niche.
2. Research it, keywords, buying triggers , dig for as much info as you can find.
3. Get a domain name with included keywords, redirect it to the product page, make sure it includes your affiliate link or you will not get paid.
4. Write articles 1 or 2 a day on your chosen niche and link out your bio box to your domain name, that will auto redirect to the products sales page.
5. Keep writing until you have the concept down to a tee.
6. Keep checking your article stats in ezine so you can see what kind of traffic you are producing.
7. This is not a step just commonsense, Don’t waste your time writing articles for keywords that have no search volume, you will dominate google but you won’t get any traffic. Try to keep it at 1500 searches a month minimum.
All the best
Steve.
This is working smart and not becoming overwhelmed with concepts you do not yet understand.
Working smart earns you money, working hard gets you nowhere, if you don’t understand what it is you are working hard at.

I just learned about redirecting to the merchant’s page today. Since I joined back in December, I have spent countless hours, days, and weeks STRESSING, and getting headaches trying to understand this stuff more. I have seen people talking about redirecting before, but I thought it was some complicated scripting you put on your website. I didn’t realize it was as simple to buy a .info domain .info for .99 (1.19 with the .20 fee) from Godaddy, and set up a redirect to the merchant’s page. I am so mad at myself LOL. I feel so dumb.
I dunno though.. this seems to easy. Do I have the concept right? Is there a catch?
Now reggiemax26 as been working hard and not smart, now he is questioning working the smart way.
My answer to reggiemax26.
Seriously the concept of direct linking is not new, it’s been going on for years, and is the easiest form of affiliate marketing anyone can learn.
Once you understand the concept of how to write articles that produce the traffic to the sales page you are 80% there to making a good living.
Just make sure that the product owner is as passionate about his sales page converting as you are. What other business could you do that costs a few dollars to set-up and make you money on autopilot?
Forget learning how to build landing pages, full web sites, theses are useless without a understanding of how people react to you content. Your goal and only goal is to persuade your visitors to click on your link to the sales page. If you have not conquered article writing that gets minimum 20% clicks on your links then spending hours, days and weeks on a landing page is not going to pay off the way you hoped it would.
One article a day that’s all you need to learn. No rush, start Monday through to Sunday, start again Monday, last weeks articles are starting to go live on e-zine, now you are having one new article published every day, maybe on the same niches? I would and I grantee you will make sales.
Perfect this like your life depended on it and you will succeed.
E-zine articles will always be there long in to the future, build back links to your articles and keep them on the top of google, all the other search engines will pick them up also, now you have a business with longevity , a healthy income and I didn’t even ask you for any $00.00
You can take this advice and run with it or you can forget you ever read it, or you can simply go and spend another amount of $00.00? On …….. Fill in the name, With the acceptation of WA the author of any book is not concerned with your success only their own. ((Wakeup people))
All the best
